Having nothing to do as usual, on a quiet Thursday afternoon, I decided to start reading through the pages of history that defined Ms.Kok Mei Qin as the celebrity blogger she stands for today. And greeting me coincidently, was the discovery that her earliest entries were dated exactly one year from now, written and poised during the humble month of July. Exactly one year ago, inspiration and talent was born.
Reflections are only appropriate for moments like these. When we discover what we never expect to discover, and when we discover something oddly beautiful. What better way is there to celebrate the existence of inspiration, than by appreciating the memories embracing its creation? Yes my readers, the sculpture of what the icon www.mqdoido.com represents today, is truly an inspiration to us all.
This month, marks the anniversary of a website many of us take for granted. A website we love to read and enjoy, criticize and support, cry and laugh at or with. A website whose author shares with us, every single one of her many magical moments selflessly, indiscriminately. And yet, it still remains a website whose humble beginnings we still know very little about.
So let us reflect and let us discover, how and what www.mqdoido.com grew to become today. Let us celebrate this month of July.
Let us celebrate www.mqdoido.com’s first birthday.
It may be a surprise for those who do know the first chapter of this story, because accurately speaking, www.mqdoido.com only surfaced onto the world wide web last December. Then why, you may ask, celebrate the first birthday of something not born a year ago? My answer, I believe, is more subjective than it should be. July was the month, our beloved author, took her first step into the world of blogging. Her first typed characters in the vast blogosphere pieced together the question many bloggers ask themselves before they begin. Why do we blog?So why did she started blogging?
“It’s definitely not about bitching about people though that can be very tempting at time =) I start this blog because I’m currently jobless and I have no purpose in life besides waiting for my offer letter. So I think to myself, why don’t I start a blog to fill up my time? Besides that, I can practise my written English while I’m at it. At least when I go to university, I would still know how to spell =P”
And there you have it, complete brutal honesty at its finest. The real true reason why mqdoido was born. Believe it or not, mqdoido used to be labeled “lu tahu tak?” A name strung together (obviously in a very grammatically incorrect attempt) with words from two different languages (both of which are not even used in the blog). A name you can’t help admiring for its lucid humor and successful attempt at inviting smiles. A name which screams Malaysian, and harbors an atmosphere of comforting assurance. You know or not? The name that started it all.
After that virgin post, her humble writings exploded into a variety of engaging topics. From lame jokes to eye-catching articles, and interesting fun facts to strikingly useful advices, and not forgetting her daily happenings. Her love, her hates, her emos and her thoughts. Nothing escaped her industrious desire to blog. Lu tahu tak, slowly emerged as her icon. Her stepping stone into the fiery world of blogging.
So blog was what she did. And blog, was what she learnt to excel in. And eventually, she became a blogger.
What made her blog so special, was the fact that it was her blog. Her diary. It was all about her. It didn’t matter who read her blog, who hated her blog, who loved her blog or who didn’t read her blog. All that mattered was her blog. Her blog became her friend, her companion, a great listener and a great provider. On those days when she was tormented by sadness, her blog was there for her. On the days when she needed someone to share her joy, her blog was there for her. And on those days when she had absolutely nothing to do (quote: jobless), her blog was there for her. It sparked a life-long relationship that still stands strong today.
She blogs because her blog is her best friend. One that will never leave her, criticize her, control her, hate her, hurt her or disrespect her.
Her blog loved her. And she loved her blog.
Her writing slowly matured, from long detailed posts, to now short, sweet and simple ones. Colorfully decorated with her ever expanding library of pictures, beautifully captioned with the most sufficient and minimum of words. Every post was an exciting one. Every post was a post to look forward to. And come December 2006, lu tahu tak got its first Christmas gift: a makeover.
Blog-makeover, Christmas edition: Lu tahu tak? From unseen to beauty queen
“I have MOVED! New Bloggie! Do Check it OUT!
I HAVE MOVED!! BYE-BYE FRIENDSTER! No more limits of uploading photos!
No more horrible alignment of pictures!”
It was a special Christmas gift thoughtfully given from a close blogging friend benghan. A gift that sent our author hurling into the limelight of blogging. Lu tahu tak’s first and very own dot com. A major change deserves a major transformation, and so on December 23rd 2006, Lu tahu tak left behind its unprecedented humor to become its own new star: mqdoido.
Precisely speaking, mqdoido dot com.
Now, there is less that needs to be said, because mqdoido’s archives are so easily accessible on the website. Instead of dwelling in details, why not pick your own adventure, and experience the growth of mqdoido yourself first hand? Read its humble beginnings, and enjoy the many moments that have shaped what it exists to us today as.
Why am I so interested in mqdoido’s history you may ask, and why is it so important? Frankly speaking, apart from the fact that we (and I) are her fans (if you support this post anyways), it was also responsible for the beginning of something new; something beautiful.
This statement may sound stupid, but if it wasn’t for mqdoido, this post wouldn’t exist. (I guess in one way if there is no mqdoido, there’s no point writing about it). More accurately speaking, if it wasn’t for mqdoido, this author (me), would never have taken the time to write this.
“I’m sad.I’m depressed.
I cannot live anymore.
I’ve lost my beloved W550i.”
hate to say it but I’m kinda glad u did – ranz
Because if it wasn’t for mqdoido, I wouldn’t have met the love of my life today.
Happy 1st blogging birthday www.mqdoido.com, and many more to come…
“cheerios!”
